Start the Road To Recovery With Addiction Recovery Services

Addiction Recovery Services (ARS) is here for anyone who is ready to get help with their alcohol and/or substance use struggles. If you (or someone you know) are ready to make the change, then ARS is here to help make that happen.

We’re here to help. Our IOP and Aftercare programs are designed with you in mind, providing individualized care that ensures the best chance of a positive outcome in recovery. Our admissions process is simple and accessible and we utilize the latest in evidence-based approaches to treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

With our convenient locations in Salem and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, we are accessible to people in both Northern Massachusetts and even Southern Maine. No matter if you are coming from Massachusetts, Southern Maine, or New Hampshire – if you can make it here safely and regularly for IOP meetings – we can accommodate. We are also happy to discuss out-of-state insurance plans and how they work.

Guided by Our Four Principles

Everything we do at Addiction Recovery Services is guided by our four principles of treatment:

RESPECT: We will always listen and treat you with respect and dignity at all times no matter what your goals or beliefs are with regard to substance use and recovery. Success in recovery can only happen when trust is built between the treatment provider and the person seeking treatment.

CHOICE: Our goal is to educate you and ultimately give you the resources you need to make positive decisions in recovery. When a person who seeks help is given choices about what courses of action to take in treatment, the likelihood of positive outcomes is increased by a significant amount.

TREAT THE PERSON, NOT THE PROBLEM: The goal is to teach people how to live life without substances rather than forcing them to stop. Our treatment approach aims to improve overall health by facilitating changes in thinking, new ways to manage emotions, and new ways of responding in relationships so that a person’s life becomes more appealing without drugs and alcohol.

PREVENTING AND MANAGING RESUMED USE (RELAPSE):

If you face bumps in the road to recovery, we’ll never turn our back on you. In treatment, you will be taught ways to change your thinking and your behavior, which isn’t always an overnight process. We’ll be here to try different approaches to treatment until we figure out what works for you and your unique situation.

Effective Outpatient Recovery for Your Unique Situation

Whether you’re beginning or continuing your recovery, the intensive outpatient program (IOP) here at Addiction Recovery Services (ARS) can help guide you. Trying to decipher all of the definitions for which program does what can be a difficult task. Recovery is already complex and scary, so getting started with it shouldn’t be.

Our goal here is to always have the resources someone needs to steer their life in the direction they know it should be going. So much of the struggle with addiction is also a struggle with control. IOP at ARS is set up to help everyone involved achieve control again.

Our principles of care are what guide us through every stage of your recovery. When you enroll for treatment at ARS we want you to be prepared for what comes next. There may be some bumps in the road, but we know long-term recovery includes preparing for how those moments are handled.

Choosing outpatient rehab can be the first step someone takes toward recovery, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s just as viable as the next step for someone who has enrolled and completed an inpatient rehab program already.

Treating the Whole Person, Not Just Their Substance Use Issues

At Addiction Recovery Services, our approach treats the whole person, not just the substance use issues they are facing. Everyone is different and there are many unique factors to consider in treatment.

Things like difficulty with emotions such as anger, sadness, boredom, relationship conflict, and negative thinking can lead to the use of drugs and alcohol, but also to potentially hindering mental health symptoms. All these factors can affect how treatment unfolds. Our goal is to make that process go as smoothly as possible.

With that in mind, groups at ARS include discussions and skill-building activities about communication and improving relationships, changing our thoughts, identifying and coping with our emotions, and having fun. We always address the unique inner landscape of someone we are helping. All of us have emotions, but each of us uses them in different ways.
